'67 Alpine 5 Starter Removal

Recently removing the starter from my '67 Alpine I uncoupled the manifold/carbs and swung out the lot making enough room for starter to be taken off. It went back OK too. Now that I have to do it again I've forgotten whether the thing lifts UP or is let fall down to the ground. If anyone's done it recently perhaps you could 'blow by blow' account here?
